Exercise promotes optimal health and well-being and is integral in the prevention and treatment of various physical and mental health conditions. Our program aims to make physical activity accessible and welcoming for all students. The ACTIVE Spartans Program is an exercise program that matches you with a Physical Activity Mentor (PAM) who will:
The program is for those who are not currently physically active or those not meeting the Center for Disease Control Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans. The guidelines recommend that adults get at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic physical activity or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity physical activity, or an equivalent combination each week as well as muscle-strengthening activities on 2 or more days a week that work all major muscle groups.

What to Expect:
Your PAM will test your current fitness level through a short series of resting and exercising assessments to establish baseline measurements that can be used to develop an exercise goal. Your PAM will then guide you in developing a goal-oriented physical activity plan.
During your session, you have the option of doing a short bodyweight exercise routine with your PAM.
Following your session, your PAM will develop and email you an individualized exercise prescription.
Your PAM will provide follow-up motivation, accountability, and check-ins via email or additional sessions to further support you.
