Medical Amnesty Substance Use Assessment

The goal of a Substance Use Assessment is to create a safe and non-judgmental space where students may feel comfortable exploring the challenges and harms they may be experiencing related to substance use. These individualized one-to-one sessions are focused on understanding the ways that substances may be impacting a student’s personal and academic goals and providing tools, resources, recommendations, and referrals for appropriate levels of care and support.

If you have been sanctioned to complete a Substance Use Assessment by the Office of Student Support & Accountability, please follow the link below to register for your assessment. For any questions regarding the assessment process, please email spartansmart@msu.edu for more information.

Please note that these appointments are different from our Spartan Smart Class. If you are looking to register for a Spartan Smart class, or need more information, please click here.

After you have completed your payment, please call 517-355-8270 to schedule your first appointment with MSU Counseling & Psychiatric Services (CAPS). It is important to note that these appointments will be held in-person. If you are unable to attend this appointment in-person due to extenuating circumstances, please let the healthcare assistant know at the time of scheduling.

You will receive an appointment reminder the morning of your appointment with instructions to complete brief assessment forms.  The staff at MSU CAPS look forward to assisting you in this process.
